History
Find out how it all began and what milestones we have already achieved!
Despite the company’s young history, we can look back fondly on a few highlights. From the foundation, to our first government research project, to the corporate redesign, everything is included.
FREELANCING
After holding various positions at large companies in Germany and abroad, our future founder Michael Mederer decided to design mathematical algorithms on a freelance basis for various clients. The discipline of "data science" did not exist for a long time back then.
Foundation of m2hycon UG
Michael Mederer founded m2hycon UG in September 2018 with the prospect of a government-funded research project and the associated build-up of employees.
First research project
The government-funded research project was actually won and the first employees were hired. A team of four people set about developing customized algorithms.
Digital Hub Logistics
We have been a member of the Digital Hub Logistics Hamburg since May 2019. As we operate across all sectors, we also feel particularly at home in logistics due to our location and network with numerous logistics companies.
Acquiring new customers
In addition to our research project, we can quickly convince new customers of our capabilities. The number of employees is also growing and, due to the excellent prospects, we are tackling the transformation into a limited company.
Opening of the office in Hamburg
The office room that was initially rented as a sublet quickly becomes too small. The path leads us via co-working spaces to our current office in Deichstraße in Hamburg. Lovingly furnished and even with a view of the Elbphilharmonie, the office still delights us today.
Data Engineering
We realize relatively quickly that our customers have a great need for data engineering expertise and expand our range of services accordingly. A win-win situation: our customers receive all services from a single source and our data scientists can concentrate on their core competence, the development of algorithms.
The team is growing
After less than two years, we have grown from four to ten employees. Even a global pandemic cannot change this. Everyone enjoys full confidence and job security, even in difficult times.
m2hycon blog starts
In order to provide our customers with information and suggestions outside of our day-to-day project business, we are launching our m2hycon blog with topics relating to data science and data.
Software development
Because our customers want more and more from us in addition to our existing services, we are expanding our range of services to include software development. This enables us to develop complete AI products from a single source.
Redesign of the brand identity
It's about time: after four years of m2hycon, we are finally launching our new design and website. We can easily identify with this fresh, innovative and creative look 😉
Twenty employees
The 20th team member starts at m2hycon this month. The continuous expansion of our services, close cooperation with our customers and the constant acquisition of new customers allow us to continue to grow. We are delighted to have such a large and diverse team.

Especially as a young company, we think about what we (want to) stand for and how we can make the world we live in a little bit better. Even if our influence is limited, we give 100% for this goal every day.
In this day and age, it is important and necessary that we look at our footprint in the world. At m2hycon, we focus on sustainability in many respects. On the one hand, this refers to our ecological footprint, which we are constantly trying to reduce, be it through home office offers, the use of sustainable products or the avoidance of unnecessary computing power. On the other hand, we also focus on sustainability in our collaboration with our customers. We usually support our clients over several years in order to bring about lasting change. This is reflected in our values.

We are a team of mathematicians and scientists who are passionate about solving complex real-life problems. To do this, we use mathematics to identify underlying structures and make them usable. There is nothing better for us than an algorithm that creates added value in the real business world. We have set out to prove the power of mathematics to solve the problems of down-to-earth companies. -
CREATIVITY
Creativity is one of the most important characteristics of our data scientists. Unfortunately, we see far too often that data scientists are used as "analysts" who perform tasks that someone else has thought up. But these can only be truly successful if we find creative solutions. We work closely with our clients' decision-makers to provide our creative input from an algorithmic and data perspective. -
INNOVATION
When companies decide to use customized algorithms, this actually always means innovation, because otherwise there would already be a product with the solution. We solve problems with innovative approaches and ideas. We think big but are still down to earth.

Who we are…
m²hycon is a modern data science consulting firm and a well-connected established company that offers competent AI consulting at the highest mathematical level. We cover the full range of mathematical modeling, algorithms and AI methods. Our customers include the digital divisions of large companies on the one hand and exciting start-ups from a wide range of sectors, e.g. logistics, tourism, retail, energy and infrastructure, on the other.
What we do…
Our assignments range from initial concept development, prototyping and proof of concept to the creation of professional production code, including embedding the implemented methods in newly defined workflows and processes of existing IT infrastructures and/or cloud systems. To develop our specialized solutions, we use agile project management methods in close cooperation with our customers.

Tasks
Data science activities form the basis for all our data science projects and include the design and implementation of mathematical algorithms in the areas of statistical forecasting, linear and non-linear optimization, metaheuristics and machine learning methods such as neural networks.
The task generally begins with the customer’s requirements. This requires a quick grasp and rapid familiarization with the industry, the applications and processes as well as the goals of our customers. In the modeling phase, implementation proposals are to be developed through creative idea generation and implemented in an iterative, agile manner. Depending on customer requirements and project size, this work takes place in small or larger teams. Most of the implementation takes place in a cloud environment in the Python language. This requires knowledge or the rapid learning of libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, PySpark, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow and Keras, PyTorch. Basic knowledge of databases and cloud computing is an advantage.
Qualification
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the field of data science
Good, efficient communication and successful teamwork
Proven ability to independently learn new methods and algorithms in the field of data science.
Creativity and enjoyment in sharing experiences and imparting knowledge

Data engineering forms the basis for all our data science projects and covers the entire conception and implementation of modern (big data) data processes and high-performance cloud architectures. This includes the design of cloud architectures for new projects, the automation of deployment processes, the modeling and scaling of databases, the construction of data pipelines and interfaces as well as the support and further development of running systems (DevOps). Tools and technologies from a wide range of areas should be used and/or it should be possible to quickly familiarize oneself with new tools.

In the senior role of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for independently defining and specifying company standards for m2hycon and continuously implementing requirements for our ongoing projects. Due to the variety of different requirements and projects, the job promises a continuous expansion of knowledge as well as a growing team.
Qualification
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in data engineering, cloud architecture, solutions architecture.
