works and meets the customer\u2019s needs in a timely fashion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over two decades later, agile metho\u00addo\u00adlo\u00adgies like Scrum have become the de-facto standard not only in software develo\u00adp\u00adment but also in adjacent fields like, for instance, data science.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whoever has practiced agile methods in both software and data science, will have noticed that the effects on data science products and projects can differ from those on software teams quite a bit. There are a number of common pitfalls that can lead to diffi\u00adcul\u00adties delive\u00adring the desired value to stake\u00adhol\u00adders and clients and might yield plenty of frustra\u00adtion explo\u00adra\u00adtion phase or ridding the datasets of outliers and other impuri\u00adties: more often than not you just cannot tell how long it will take. In the same vein, it can be equally challen\u00adging to break down a big task into smaller incre\u00adments, since you just cannot antici\u00adpate what you will end up dealing with. This problem is typically not as big of an issue in software develo\u00adp\u00adment and agile frame\u00adworks do not come forth with straight\u00adfor\u00adward remedies to this.
