quality in large-scale projects, many focus on obvious issues such as data outliers or incor\u00adrectly recorded manual entries. While these challenges are important, they are only a small part of the problem. Much more important to the success of a project is the ability to correctly tell the story contained in the data \u2013 a concept known as data storytel\u00adling.  <\/p>\n<h5><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">Data as a narra\u00adtive of the business process<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>Over time, all opera\u00adtional business processes in a large organiza\u00adtion generate a tremen\u00addous amount of granular data that is stored in enter\u00adprise resource planning (ERP) systems. This data and its associated tables not only reflect the current state, but also tell the story of the under\u00adlying process. Hidden within are patterns, depen\u00adden\u00adcies, and trends that map the entire flow of a business, and the real chall\u00adenge in lever\u00adaging this data is to correctly identify and inter\u00adpret these stories. When this is done, not only can existing processes be better unders\u00adtood, but new, value-adding or even disrup\u00adtive algorithms can be developed using these insights. However, this requires that the data be viewed in a consis\u00adtent and coherent frame\u00adwork.    <\/p>\n<h5><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">Fragmen\u00adta\u00adtion as a chall\u00adenge for data storytel\u00adling<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>In large enter\u00adprises, diffe\u00adrent business units such as sales, purcha\u00adsing, produc\u00adtion, and delivery often operate their processes in their own, often isolated, silos. These silos consist of separate process centers that operate independently of each other. Other large enter\u00adprises also have decen\u00adtra\u00adlized struc\u00adtures that include not only diffe\u00adrent organiza\u00adtional units, but also diffe\u00adrent system landscapes. This fragmen\u00adta\u00adtion is a natural conse\u00adquence of humans breaking down large and complex tasks into smaller, more manageable units, and for data science teams and AI projects, this fragmen\u00adta\u00adtion is one of the biggest challenges at the start of a project. The question is whether it is possible to ensure consis\u00adtent and end-to-end data storytel\u00adling. Only when data is seen as part of a coherent story can it unfold its full impact and unlock the poten\u00adtial for new insights and innova\u00adtion.     <\/p>\n<h5><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">Local solutions and the big picture<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>It is not only possible, it often makes sense to develop solutions locally, within indivi\u00addual business units. These local solutions can address specific problems and provide valuable insights. However, it is critical that the under\u00adlying data be placed in the context of the entire enter\u00adprise. The data must be seen as part of the same story that is told across the entire business process.   <\/p>\n<h5><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">Conclu\u00adsion<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>While data quality remains an important aspect of data proces\u00adsing, the bigger chall\u00adenge in large-scale projects often lies in the area of data storytel\u00adling. The ability to develop a coherent and consis\u00adtent narra\u00adtive from the granular data in an ERP system is critical to the successful imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion of data science and AI projects. This is the only way to unlock hidden poten\u00adtial and develop truly trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtive solutions. The fragmen\u00adta\u00adtion of processes and systems within an organiza\u00adtion makes this task parti\u00adcu\u00adlarly complex, but maste\u00adring it is the key to sustainable success.   <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element
