After 25 years in mathe\u00adma\u00adtical consul\u00adting for compa\u00adnies, we have now decided to use this medium as well. There are two reasons for this: Firstly, we are incre\u00adasingly hearing that data science projects (for a variety of reasons) are unfort\u00adu\u00adna\u00adtely not as successful as they could be. On the other hand, the current corona\u00advirus pandemic means that tradi\u00adtional and popular exchange formats such as confe\u00adrences, trade fairs and meet-ups are no longer available. What do we want to achieve with our blog?<\/p>\n<p>In our day-to-day work and in discus\u00adsions with partners, custo\u00admers and colle\u00adagues, we realize how diffi\u00adcult it often is for compa\u00adnies to develop data-driven products and processes. With our blog, we want to show in an honest way that there are also positive examples of how we can overcome obsta\u00adcles in the project, what the work of our data engineers and scien\u00adtists looks like and what types of solutions we develop for this. Since we are a team of mathe\u00adma\u00adti\u00adcians and computer scien\u00adtists, no glossy marke\u00adting reports will appear here. Rather, we are interested in presen\u00adting a reali\u00adstic picture of our work, reviving the \u201copen source idea\u201d for our diverse experi\u00adences and stimu\u00adla\u00adting one or two exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>For us, a successful data science project means creating innova\u00adtive new products from data. There can be many goals at the end of the digital journey: Costs down \u2013 revenues up \u2013 more fairness in decis\u00adions \u2013 less environ\u00admental impact \u2013 more effec\u00adtive ways of working \u2013 and and and and\u2026 . To do this, it is helpful to comple\u00adtely rethink solutions and still incor\u00adpo\u00adrate the many years of experi\u00adence of the technical experts into the design. The possi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties of today\u2019s IT should be exploited to the maximum and enable unpre\u00adce\u00addented effici\u00adency. This new knowledge generated by algorithms gives rise to new processes, better decis\u00adions and even new types of products. The condi\u00adtions for this have never been as good as they are today and we are convinced that the successful algorith\u00admiza\u00adtion of business processes and decis\u00adions will be a key compe\u00adti\u00adtive advan\u00adtage in the coming years.
